We Survived Camp...

Well, we mostly survived. I whined a lot (that's not surprising, now is it?). Bailey really struggled with being homesick. He stayed the week, which I am super proud of him for. He stayed under duress. And I had to bribe him. But whatevah. He stayed. ;)

He enjoyed his classes that he took, he just didn't like the evenings and the nights. I guess that's understandable. He's never been away for that long. Ultimately, he was glad he went, but even more glad to be home.

Up next for us is Braeden's day camp, which starts a week from tomorrow. That is always a lot of fun and he's really looking forward to that again this year. I'm looking forward to it, but I'm really looking forward to camps of all sorts being done for the summer. We could use all of these weekends to hang out together, with family and friends. I could use a little time to play Rockband and a few more scrapbooking weekends.  :D

Speaking of scrapbooking, I think I am going to look at something different for this upcoming school year. I know I've said in the past that I don't really need to change a lot, and I don't feel like I need to change anything. But I'm interested in seeing what the boys think of lapbooking. Lapbooking is kinda like scrapbooking, but your lapbooks focus on what you are learning about, one concept/topic at a time. They aren't super big, or super lengthy. It just provides the boys with an opportunity to spend a little more time on what they are learning about, outside of a traditional book report, poster project, etc. They both seem to enjoy the artsy stuff, Bailey A LOT, and they have shown interest in helping me scrap. I'm interested to see what becomes of this. They may work on one and never want to do another, but that's what tying new things is all about, right?

Right now, I'm listening to Bailey trying to help Braeden play a spelling game called Unscramble. No, not of his own free will. It's Sunday. You would have thought that I asked him to go outside and lick the mud off of the car. I'm glad that me begging and then threatening asking him, worked out so well. We are waiting for the hubs to emerge from his office so we can go see a movie. I thought it wouldn't hurt for them to work on that together for just a little while....but I could have been wrong, lol.

Hope everyone has a great week!

I knew you would survive. If I can survive my son's sleepaway camp experience, I'm convinced ANYONE can. ;) Glad he's home safe and sound, though!!

Ooh - I wish I could send my kids away for a week, but it would freak me out, I think! My husband calls it the "invisible umbilical cord" because I worry so much if they're too far away! LOL I know I'll have to let them go someday....but maybe some OTHER day!!! :)

It sounds like he had an awesome time, so good for you!
