Heading Home.

The last two weeks have flown by! As usual though, lol. We had a wonderful vacation, and while we are sad to see it end, we're also happy to get back home and try to get back into our routine. And sleep in our own beds. And have all of our doggies with us again. :)

I have a 10 hour car ride ahead of me today, but it's not actually that bad. We have so much fun in the car together. We sing along to the radio (the boys love it when I cycle through the decades channels on the satellite radio...60's, 70's, 80's 90's and 00's...and we listen to how different music is in each time), and we talk with each other. About everything. From the invention and evolution of electrical power and energy, to "who made the state lines?' to "if you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?" :)

Hopefully, I will have an opportunity to post some pictures of our trip this week, when I'm back in the land of WiFi, instead of on my mobile data plan. Until then, I will leave you with this awesome shot (thank you, Tracy!) of these awesome kiddos enjoying the beach...

Vacation, Week One.

Yep. One week in already. Time flies when you're having fun...

Not a lot to report, really. We had a lovely week, just the moms and the kids. Swimming, playing cards and just hanging out. The husbands arrived yesterday, so our full vacation group is here now. We met for dinner last night at our absolute MOST favorite restaurant on the planet. Meg O' Malley's

We first ate here last year a few times, and we have talked about eating here ALL year long. So we had dinner last night, we went back for lunch today...and we already have a reservation for tomorrow for brunch. Aaaaaaand, we'll be eating there a few more times throughout the week as well.

Obsess, much? A little. ;)

My dinner...traditional Irish pub fare of corned beef and cabbage. Nomnomnom. :)

Next week we will hit the beach a few times, visit an aquarium and continue on with the chillaxin'. While there is no school being done, we do feel like we are giving the kids a quick personal finance high school course, lol. The sheer amount of money we spend on eating out really does take a little away from anything other paid activities we want to do. Good thing we like the easy, free stuff (playing in the ocean!).

Hopefully I will have a chance to post some pictures before we head home, but we don't have WiFi where we are, and I'm trying to conserve my mobile data. Worst case scenario, I'll just have to post them in bulk when we get home. :)

Ok, I'm signing off now. There's a glass of wine, a screened porch and a breeze that's calling my name. Until next time, have a great week!

Beach Bound!

I cannot believe it's time for our beach trip already! I hate how quickly time is flying by this year, but I am sure glad it's time to go. :D

The boys and I are heading down tomorrow with Tracy and her boys. It's 1pm and have I started packing yet?

Not. One. Thing.

Gah. This is why I get so anxious about vacations, lol. I procrastinate! At least in this particular instance, I won't have to worry about going shopping to buy all the stuff I'm inevitably going to forget. The hubs can't bring it down when he comes on Friday.

Even though the boys are taking their tablets and laptops, I'm not expecting any school work this time. We all really need the break. Although...given Braeden's repetitive misspelling of the word "beach" (he keeps spelling it "beech"), I may make him take a look at his dolch words (sight words) again.

Oh, who am I kidding?

No school for them means no school for ME! ;)

Off to pack. I hope all of you moms have a wonderful Mother's Day today. Leaving you with one of my favorite beach pictures of super-fun-years-past...

These 5 little humans make some of THE best vacay companions. ;)

Vacay Prep and Season Finales

Ok, I'm just going to start off by saying it is really hard to believe that we are getting closer and closer to the end of Bailey's first year of high school homeschool. I honestly spent SO much time worrying about it before it finally rolled around, lol. Funny how it's gone rather smoothly, and we all have a positive outlook for the remaining high school years. Whew. :D

This past week went well. School is going along on schedule (or as close to a schedule as I keep), and we had a great week of homeschool group activities that we have missed with me doing the tax thing. The boys got to attend their Minecraft club for the first time since December, which was awesome.

We also had a fantastic field trip on Friday to a place called SkyZone. It's an indoor trampoline park. They have a huge trampoline court, a couple of dodgeball courts, a couple of cage ball games, a basketball slam dunk thingy and a neat foam area...think ball pit, but with awesomely soft foam pieces. :) Anyway, the kids all a great time and I loved hanging out with the moms!

This week they will continue with their schooley stuff, but we have a lot of out-of-the-house activities too. Monday is archery club, Wednesday is their last Nature Science class of this school year and Thursday is Bailey's last Master's class of this school year. On top of that, we will be getting ready for our annual Florida trip. It always occurs around this time of year, but we are going down a little later than normal. The boys and I are heading down on Monday the 12th with Tracy and her boys. We will pick up Jen and Kaylee on Wednesday the 14th, then finally, the hubs and Scott will head down on Friday the 16th. We will come home on the 25/26th...so this a longish vacay for us, and we're super excited!

You know what else usually occurs this time of year? The season finales for our TV shows. And we have LOTS of them. I have no shame. I know many people feel like TV watching is a waste of time and brain cells, or that it can't possibly be "family time." But I disagree. I couldn't even begin to tell you how many conversations we've had about real life situations because of the TV shows we watch. Everything from love and acceptance, to bullying, to the mind of criminals. We've talked about the TV shows when we weren't watching them as well. Character development, plot outlines and contextual clues that we've seen/heard throughout the season about where things are going...all of that is totally educational, right?

Right?

:/

Whatevs. I'm sticking to it's chock full of learnin'. :P

I think the biggies for us this year, the ones that have us biting our nails and whining because we can't wait to see how things play out, are Arrow, Supernatural, Grimm and Elementary. There are others of course, but these are the favorites.

Do you have some that you are counting down to the finale for? Tell me about them. I really can't have too many shows in my rotation, lol.

Ok. That's it for now. I need to forage for food (heehee) and try to conquer Mount Laundry. Until next time, have a great week!

By the way...linking up again with the LHSHS blog hop! Won't you join us? :)
